Principle and process flow of aluminium passivation

Principle and process flow of aluminium passivation

Aluminium is a non-ferrous light metal. Aluminium and Aluminium alloys have the characteristics of high specific strength, excellent plasticity, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, and good processing performance and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in aerospace industry, ordnance industry, construction, electrical, chemical, transportation and other civil fields. Because Aluminium and Aluminium alloys are widely used, different application fields also have different requirements for the corrosion resistance of their surfaces.
aluminium passivation
Aluminium and Aluminium alloys have good corrosion resistance and can be used satisfactorily for many years in neutral atmosphere, natural water, some chemicals and most foods. This is completely due to the passivity of the natural oxide film formed on the surface of Aluminium, that is to say, the corrosion resistance of Aluminium actually depends on the oxide state and nature of the Aluminium formed on the surface. If this surface oxide film is artificially strengthened, such as the antioxidant film obtained by the passivation treatment of Aluminium, its surface passivity is stronger than the natural oxide film, so the corrosion resistance is also better than the natural passivation film.
Although the antioxidant film on the surface of Aluminium and Aluminium alloys has the ability to self-repair, if the antioxidant film is damaged in an environment that cannot repair itself, corrosion will inevitably continue to occur and develop. Therefore, the corrosion process of Aluminium can be explained by the chemical properties of the oxide film in the environment, or it can be explained by the chemical reaction between metal Aluminium and the environment.

Aluminium passivation process is a complete chemical reaction process, with passivation liquid treatment of Aluminium, will form a uniform layer on the surface of Aluminium, dense, not easy to destroy, integrity is very good passivation protective film, mainly to extend the corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of Aluminium parts. It can improve the salt spray corrosion resistance by more than 5-20 times on the basis of the original. Aluminium passivation will never change the color, size, appearance and shape of the surface of the Aluminium, which is very conducive to the post-treatment of electroplating, electrophoresis, anodizing, spraying and so on. At the same time absolutely does not affect any performance of the Aluminium itself, such as: electrical conductivity and so on.

Aluminium alloy passivation liquid can timely form a layer of uniform passivation film with strong protective properties on the surface of Aluminium alloy, which can be applied to the anti-corrosion treatment of Aluminium alloy and Aluminium die casting, and form a layer of transparent and light color coating on the surface. It can also be used for pre-treatment of spraying, powder spraying and gluing. This product does not contain hexavalent chromium, environmental protection, safety and non-toxic, simple operation, wastewater treatment, low unit cost. Aluminium passivation liquid operation process is very simple and easy to learn, suitable for all Aluminium product manufacturers production applications. The specific passivation process operation flow is as follows:

Oil degreasing

the Aluminium is immersed in the Aluminium cleaning agent, normal temperature operation, the time is 1-3 minutes, after the surface oil stains are completely cleaned, the Aluminium is removed, and the surface is rinsed with cleaning.

Aluminium passivation

The cleaned Aluminium parts are soaked in the Aluminium passivation liquid, operated at room temperature, and the time is 1.5 minutes. When the time is up, remove the workpiece immediately and rinse the surface with cleaning.

Too pure water

the Aluminium parts are soaked in pure water (bottled water or filtered water) for 3 minutes.

Drying and packaging.

Aluminium passivation refers to the chemical reaction of Aluminium and Aluminium passivation liquid to turn the active Aluminium metal surface into an inert surface, so as to prevent the reaction of external destructive substances with the metal surface and achieve the purpose of extending the rust time of Aluminium. And Aluminium after passivation treatment, it will generate a very dense, good coverage, firmly adsorbed on the metal surface of the Aluminium passivation film, can play a role in extending the rust time of Aluminium, effectively protect the purpose of metal, so that the metal more corrosion resistance.
